Pygopleurus katbehi Sabatinelli, 2008

Diagnosis

Pygopleurus katbehi Sabatinelli belongs to group II of Baraud (1989) having pronotum with vermiculated wrinkles (dermatoglyph) and truncate apex of elytra with a tooth at the sutural border. Other diagnostic characters are: the small size (9-11 mm), the gently curved anterior claws and the posterior angles of pronotum well visible. P.katbehi Sabatinelli is close to P.labaumei (Petrovitz, 1971) and P.syriacus (Linnaeus, 1758) from which it can be easily differentiated for the shape of paramera long and sinuate dorso ventrally. The males of P.syriacus can be differentiated from the males of P.katbehi for the rounded apex of elytra without sutural tooth.
