Pentodon idiota idiota Herbst, 1789 (Scarabaeus)
Among the genus Pentodon species, P.idiota can be recognized having: apex of clypeus rounded, broadly convex and with an obtuse often indistinct elevation (not a tooth), frons with a conical tubercle, pygidium simply convex.
Three subspecies are known: P.idiota idiota, P.idiota gumariensis Petrovitz, 1961 and P.idiota memnon Jakolev, 1902.
The subspecies P.idiota idiota has somewhat less sculptured elytra. It is distributed in Eastern Europe, Caucasus, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Cyprus, Lebanon (to be confirmed) and Israel (to be confirmed).
